Contract Work:
- Imaging 200 desktops and 150 laptops
- Encrypting laptops and desktops
- Applying Lock-down policy
- Deploy Citrix agent to all above
- Documenting procedure and hiccups to corrected and using full change procedure to apply fixes
Summary:
Was given the task to image devices 5 at a time based on a desk on being given a MDT/WDS server and boot USB to start the process followed by a checklist of actions to confirm
Whilst there I suggested migrating to PXE booting, Multicasting the deployments in batches of 20, Installing the DaRT toolkit to allow remoting on to the computers whilst imaging. These where all implemented and improved the speed/efficiency of the start to finish process
- Data centre maintenance
- Server hardware and software maintenance
- Backup maintenance
- VDI Implementation and maintenance
- Desktop support
- Site take on and documentation preparation
Summary:
During my time here I was exposed to my first MSP workload and a plethora of hardware and software I’d never seen before so had to quickly adapt away from my previous limited knowledge of Cisco and Windows to start using Draytek, Juniper, Sophos UTM, HP, IBM, Dell and may more server and network equipment. There was also a world of managing/supporting industry specific software from in-house made to large providers
Providing an escalation point to 1nd line teams
Further data centre maintenance
Server hardware and software maintenance
Data centre network maintenance
Backup maintenance
VDI maintenance (VMware and Citrix)
Desktop support
Server support
End user support
ITIL change management
Summary:
After 3 years at my previous with no options of training and promotion looked to move to a larger MSP who promised and delivered, allowing me to get settled in on 2nd line, getting rewarded for outstanding customer feedbacks with bonus’s and internal emails. There was also progression once exams where completed, experience gained and most importantly get a positive name for myself around the teams and management staff
Same as above with extra responsibilities, including implementation of the above
Documentation preparation and updating
RDS implementation and maintenance
VMware ESXi maintenance
Hyper-V maintenance
KVM maintenance
Application Development and deployment
Custom RMM scripting and automation
Change request preparation and approval
Solutions preparation, implementation and documentation as well as knowledge transfer
Internal and external security bolstering
Summary:
Spending time looking in to repeat/reoccurring problems to find solutions that can stop these to provide better customer experience as well as getting more involved in project based work I was also introduced to designing, presenting, documenting and implementing customer solutions from start to finish ending in knowledge transfer. I also acquired further certifications and gained more appreciation from management and staff across the business
As with the previous role but with less focus on tickets and more on automation and being an escalation point for the 3rd like team. This includes chairing monthly meetings around automation across the company with the aims of sharing tools being worked on and getting fresh ideas on the go.
As well automation I’ve also been given and will continue to receive further projects to work on again giving me time to work with customers, providers and internal teams all with ITIL in mind.
Looking to further myself in this role with additional certifications and always learning
